The Ultimate Farm Stand Guide For Shopping Fresh, Organic And Local
Summer is coming to an end with kiddos back to school and temperatures finding themselves a little lower in the evenings. However, you can still grab a bite of summer or enjoy the fall bounty at many local farm stands in the area. We live in an area that is just bursting with these gems and we are so lucky! Support our local farmers, know where your food is coming from and fuel your body with wholesome, clean nutrition. There is nothing better than shopping at local farm stands to fill your fridge, spirits and self.
Did you know that the produce in grocery stores is generally a week old when it arrives? Local farm stands are stocked with items picked daily for the ultimate freshness and flavor. Some of them also price their produce at wholesale prices or support EBT to make fresh food attainable for all. I’ve really loved incorporating taking the kids to purchase locally grown produce into our weekly grocery routine. Doing so has led me to gather a lovely little list of my favorite spots to shop in Snohomish, Skagit and Whatcom Counties and I wanted to share them with you! Make sure to bookmark this post to come back to whenever you’d like a reference! Some of the farm stands are seasonal and some are open year round, so visit them now and put them on your list for every single shopping trip in the spring/summer next year!
Sharing the experience of shopping at local farm stands with our children has been a really fun way to educate them about the importance of good nutrition and choosing organic, pasture raised and wholesome food. It has also shown them how we build community by supporting our local farms and getting to know the incredible farmers who create them. And allowing them to pick out their veggies somehow makes them more excited to eat them, a win-win for all!
So, if you are looking for a fun stop for the day or a regular place to source your food, read on! I’ve sorted this list by county, alphabetically and with an easy at-a-glance guide to help you find the ones that are right for you!
